  9. GetType is a CLI tool that enables the user to scan files on a harddrive
  10. and return their identification. This version knows over a thousand
  11. filetypes, such as StoneCracker, PowerPacker, AMOS sources, OctaMED modules,
  12. ProTracker modules, audio samples and many more...
  13.  
  14. The program is FREEWARE, so you pay nothing, just e-mail the author :-)

  20. o Knows approx. 1161 filetypes using Idm.library.
  21. o The output can be extensively configured via the LFMT parameter.
  22. o Set commment of each file with identification string - optional.
  23. o Specify how fast the program should perform via IOLEN parameter.
  24. o Ignores Workbench icon files (#?.info) - optional.
  25. o Use FileID.library (included) by BLOODROCK. This enables GetType to check
  26.   files with a database of approx. 1700+ filetypes - optional.
  27. o That figure can top 2000 (!) if you use the UXFD parameter. This brings
  28.   in xfdmaster.library.
  29. o Display only the filetypes you want to find via the IDPAT parameter.
  30. o Scan all sub-directories - optional.
  31. o Identification engine (Idm.library) is developed in assembly for speed.
  32. o Low memory requirements.
  33. o Full AmigaDOS style wildcard support. Handy if your HD contains many files.
  34. o Force the output to a requester.
  35. o Its FREEWARE, just send me an e-mail if you use it.

  44.   o GT did not check the OS version before starting - Whoops!
  45.   o You can now use the powerful xfdmaster.library by Georg Hörmann & Dirk
  46.     Stöcker to check for compressed files that Idm.library does not know.
  47.     The following parameters have been added to enable the user to bring in
  48.     xfdmaster.library: UXFD=USEXFD/S, XE=XFDEXTERN/S and XFDTYPES/S. GT now
  49.     has a large database of filetypes!
  50.   o LFMT has been extended, it now supports XFD. Use LFMT code %4 to
  51.     obtain the result of xfdmaster.library.
  52.   o The INFO parameter has been extended. It now displays more information.
  53.   o GT now breaks first time (CTRL+C) when the user specifies many #?TYPES
  54.     parameters (eg: GT TYPES FIDTYPES NAMETYPES XFDTYPES).
  55.   o GT now has EVEN MORE tolerance when it comes to errors.
  56.   o Fixed some spelling mistakes in the document.
  57.   o Made some minor internal changes and optimizations.
